----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My post today is for ladies with PCOS and things we can do to help our Anxiety. It would help anyone with anxiety i am sure. I stole from a post i seen last week, it was perfect timing for me to read all the things I can do.

I read a lot off PCOS Diva.
She gives me a lot of advice on how to deal with my PCOS.

A Dozen PCOS Anxiety Busters

Anxiety can be one of what often seems like a myriad of PCOS symptoms.  I have shared some of my favorite ways to overcome anxiety naturally below.  But I do think regardless of PCOS, many people struggle with anxiety.  I just came across this quote by  Paulo Coehlo, the author of  The Alchemist (a great book by the way!)
“Anxiety was born in the very same moment as mankind. And since we will never be able to master it, we will have to learn how to live with it. Just as we have learned to live with storms.”
I believe the most powerful tool we have to weather our emotional “storms” is at the end of our forks – the food we eat.  For me going gluten-free has tremendously helped my  anxiety levels.  Eating a nutrient rich diet has helped me calm the storms of life. Isn’t this interesting? – according to a study in the Journal Pharmacological Research, berry phytonutrients turn off enzymes that fuel depression and anxiety. (1) Food really is medicine.
Here are some other ways to learn to live with anxiety:
Focus Phrase   Bring to mind a “Focus Phrase”.  My favorite is, “I chose to be grateful and enjoy this moment.”  By saying this to myself, I chose to aim my attention at enjoyment and to the immediate sensory events happening in and around me, rather than worrying about the past or future.
Omega 3′s   Keep anxiety at bay by taking Omega 3′s every day.  Poor diet results in a decrease in Omega 3 fatty acids.  They play an essential role in building and maintaining the brain.  Over 60% of your brain is built from these fatty acids and your brain cells are continually being renewed.  Without adequate Omega 3′s your brain cannot build properly. Ohio State University recently found that healthy adults who took 2.5 grams of Omega 3’s per day for 12 weeks experienced 20 percent less anxiety than those who took a placebo. (2)
Create Ritual   It is a simple but powerful way to reduce your experience of anxiety. For me it means, lowering the lights, lighting a candle and putting on some soothing music – I love George Winston‘s Piano music.
Eliminate Sugar and Caffeine   Sugars are known to increase heart rate which can cause anxious feelings. Caffeine is also known to make people feel jittery and be more likely to feel stressed. Try to stay away from foods high in sugar and caffeine, including sodas, coffee and candy.
Exercise  Exercise will improve overall health and give you a sense of well being by the release of endorphins, can lower stress and anxiety levels. Calming activities like Yoga and Tai Chi are great. Just one hour session of yoga offers the GABA boosting effects of conventional medications with no side effects.   According to a recent study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, yoga is more effective than walking for reducing anxiety. (3)
Meditation  This is a powerful mindfulness and anti-anxiety tool.  For detailed info and how to’s read my post here.
Lavender Oil – I am a big believer in a relaxing bath.  When my nerves are frazzled and am feeling very anxious I let it all float away in a bath of Dead Sea Salts, or Epsom salt which both contain relaxing magnesium and some lavender essential oil which has a sedative quality.  For my  bath recipe and more info on Essential oils read my post.
Green Tea  L-theanine in green tea is a calming agent – increases alpha brain waves, which are linked to increased relaxation. For more information on the health benefits of tea for PCOS read mypost.
B Vitamins- B vitamins are essential for stress management, enery production and neurotransmitter balance.  B6 aids in the production of serotonin which helps prevent mood swings and anxiety. For detailed info on B12 read my post.
Rescue Remedy is great for on the spot relief in anxious or stressful situations. And white chestnut is excellent for worries that wander round and round in your head.

Here’s the description of white chestnut’s uses from the Bach Flower website:
White Chestnut: This Essence helps when your mind is full of unwanted thoughts and mental arguments. These mental arguments can often keep you from sleeping at night. White Chestnut helps you clear your mind and get the thinking under control and can be put to positive use in problem-solving. Worry is replaced by trust in a positive outcome.
Acupuncture  Acupuncture works to counteract the fight or flight stress response by releasing calming feel-good neurotransmitters such as endorphins and reduce stress hormones like cortisol.    It also imporves blood circulation with oxygenates the tissues and cyscles out cortisol  which soothe’s worry.
Acupressure is another form of energy work. By pressing, tapping, or massaging key energy points on your body’s meridian system you can learn to relieve anxiety and worrying thoughts very effectively.

One excellent DIY way to do this is with Emotional Freedom Technique or “tapping” which I explain in detail in this post.

Love is patient....

Hi Friends,

I am getting a little personal on the blog today.

So as of February 18th 2014, it has been two years since Tevis' life changed forever

I took him to the hospital February 15th he was literally dieing on me, he was so sick. He had a really bad infection starting from his left foot and slowly started moving towards his heart, I took him to the hospital just in time, he had two emergency surgery before the BIG surgery on feb. 18th where he had to have his left foot amputated. I thank god EVERYDAY for his second chance at life. It may not always be easy but he is alive and well for the most part. Diabetes is a major disease and very treatable if you take care of yourself. He was so strong about all this and had the best attitude. I am proud to be his Fiance. He goes to a very amazing Prosthetic doctor, Kenney Orthopedics, and he is in a commercial that airs on Fox here around the area and did a testimonial video I wanted to share with you all.

This video was taken well over a year ago, he was new to walking.

So when he was in the hospital I made the decision to quit my job in Ft Wayne sooner then we talked about so i could be with him to take care of him. I have been taking care of him and doing whatever i can to make life easier for him for over two years, and Wednesday morning I leave for Oklahoma for 4 nights 5 days... first time we will be apart for this long, so my anxiety has been high lately. I know he will be okay, but i always know how much he needs me most days and how much work our dogs can be. I am thankful he has a handful of people to call and be there for him, but its not me, so its still hard to leave, BUT i am excited to spend time with family. I hope there wont be too many times in life where i have to be apart from him like this. Anyone who is around us would understand my anxiety, i am his security blanket. Say a little prayer for us!

You can read more on the Tevis' Tab.

So my next little subject i wanted to talk about and get off my chest to help my anxiety is my PCOS (go read about it, its very interesting to learn about it and better understand what i am going through). Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
So over the last 2-4 years I don't have Aunt Flow come visit me on its own, i need extra help! I typically have to take pills for 10 days to jump start, so annoying, so needless to say, baby making isn't easy either, and that's a post for a whole other day. I amazingly had AF come visit my on its own two months in a row 3-4 months ago, maybe a tad longer. Life got busy and i forgot to continute with my pills for i went a few months without one.. no biggy usually. When i finally remembered, i start another round feb. 1st.... its march 3rd and AF decided to NOT visit. Called my OBGYN, they immediately want me to take a PG test, said 9 times outta 10, you are pregnant. i am that 1%, because the PG test was a big fat negative! I knew it would be :( So Doctor instructed me to go ahead and take another round of pills maybe i need even more help this time around to get AF to visit. So i am on day 5 of pills, i pray AF visits! I am worried as hell something is wrong.... If i don't have AF come visit then i have to schedule an appointment and have an ultrasound done to see what is going on. My anxiety heightens just writing all this, but i feel it will help getting it out there and maybe some advice and encouraging words will help me. I can't believe with all my weight i have lost and how i have been exercising and watching mostly what i eat that it hasn't come on its own..that's ONE thing my doctor said should happen, if i started taking better care of myself it should come back on its own. So i am very discouraged right now and PRAYING nothing major is wrong.

Prayers welcome all around today! Have a great Tuesday, hug your loved ones, Life is precious!

How to prepare myself....

I wanted this blog to be all about my Poly-cystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS) and our journey to having a baby....BUT.

Which you can read about what I have written about PCOS ... HERE && HERE

Once i started blogging more and getting into following I decided to just make my blog all about ME sorta blog. Everything from DIY projects, family, recipes, weightloss, etc etc. I thought i would write this personal post so everyone could get to know me a little better and understand more of what I am going through.

The baby making train is sort of on hold. I have been with tevis for almost three years, and from the get go, Tevis knew i wanted to have kids. So he has always been on board and says he wants a boy :). We basically have just been trying without trying. I already knew it would be hard, so I have my issues and recently we found out he has his issues. SOOOO I really dont know whats going to happen and if I will ever be a mom.

I have an appointment June 14th and will hopefully get more answers. I am nervous about this appointment because although its just my yearly appointment and I feel like once i ask my questions then I will leave knowing if i will be a mom or not. I just dont want my heart to break, but i just have a feeling it will be breaking.

How do you prepare yourself not to be a mother? That is the question I have asked myself over and over and over. I cannot answer it and it makes me so sad.

Basically the decision has been made that if Tevis has to have anything done surgically to him or some kind of procedure to his boys down there, he does not want to go through it. He has had enough done to him and has been in enough pain for the past year, he is kinda over it. I am on board with this decision too and i totally understand where he is coming from, but he has agreed to not say no on the baby making until we get ALL OF OUR questions answered. I would not leave Tevis if we could not have a baby together. Its not a deal breaker, and i love him so much and I know God put me in his life for a reason and vise versa. I sometimes feel god is not putting a baby in my life because I need to focus on Tevis and myself, sometimes Tevis is all I focus on! Also Tevis is afraid he cant be the dad to a newborn like he was with Delaney. Tevis is a great dad for one, But i understand his concerns. Who is gonna jump outta bed in the middle of night when baby is crying or our toddler needs us? It will be all on me, because tevis cant just sit up and walk, he either needs his walker, crunches or his prosthetic leg. SO you can imagine what why he thinks he cant be the dad he needs to be. We would deal with it and make it through.

As most of you know Tevis already has a daughter, Delaney, she is 7 years old and I adore her so much. I love when we do have her because the mommy in me kicks in. We love having her around and being a little family, and only dream of one day adding to it. I will treat and love Delaney as one of my own and she will never feel anything other then love from me.

I hope his issues is an easy fix or even fixed with medication and we can try before we put it all to a stop. I pray and hope and wish like crazy that I get to be able to be a mother! I want to be a mommy so bad.  I tried to make this short and sweet and to the point, I hope everyone took time to read this and get to know me a little better. Thanks in advance for all the advice and support!

Eating Cleaning

Since I have PCOS, and i do not have any friends who have it. My best friend Erica got me into joining some groups on Facebook. I have loved reading stories and getting advice. A lot of girls talk about eating clean and just overall changing your lifestyle. For us ladies with PCOS its very easy to gain weight and very hard to get it off. Losing weight will help us regulate AF better and become fertile. SO I have been researching the lifestyle change and diets these ladies post.

Eating Clean:
Eating Clean is treating your body right.
It is eating the way nature intended. You eat the foods our bodies evolved to function best on, and that makes you feel – and look – fantastic. When you Eat Clean you eat more often. You will eat lean protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats. These practices keep your blood-sugar levels stable and keep you satisfied. The best part is that if you need to lose weight it will happen almost without you having to try. And yes, you can have a treat now and again.
Best of all, Eating Clean keeps you feeling great and full of energy. In fact, you can forget all about the days when “dieting” meant feelings of hunger, lethargy or deprivation.
Eating Clean is not a fad; it’s a way of life. When you Eat Clean your body will react by losing weight if you need to lose, maintaining a healthy weight if that’s where you are, and even gaining weight if you are too skinny. But regardless of whether you want to lose, maintain or gain, you will feel better than you ever have before.
Never worry about counting calories again. You will never have to diet. Eating Clean will keep you lean and healthy for the rest of your long life. Eating Clean guarantees results!

Yes i want to see me lost some weight, i would overall feel better. I am at my heaviest and i am so determined to change that, i just haven't had much motivation lately. Clean eating will also just make you feel better inside and out, for example...we were gone all day and ate out for both lunch and dinner, why couldn't i have had a salad or something light and less carby, i went for the bad food and felt miserable! I am ready to feel better and have more energy. I will periodically post clean eating recipes, check them out under my Recipe Tab.Wish me luck with my transition into clean eating and taking better care of myself!

I follow a couple girls that are so inspirational and eat clean and work out. Check them out for advice and some motivation! SkinnyMeg & Mamalaughlin

Life never goes as planned....

Hello blogger world!!!

So from my precious posts you have found out that i was diagnosed with PCOS around the age of 20. When i was married we tried and tried and tried for a baby, right before our relationship went south, I knew my next step was clomid. Well now i am in a new relationship and Tevis knew from the beginning i wanted kids, I wanted to be a mother. We talked about kids early in our relation, so he knew what he was getting himself into. Life never goes as planned, i see 16 year olds get pregnant just by blinking, so its very frustrating to see young girls having babies. I HAVE TO KEEP THINKING, everything happens for a reason and god has other plans for me. Like right now i just keep thinking, god put me in Tevis' life to keep him alive and take care of him. I will know when the time comes if i need to prepare myself to be a mother or not to be a mother. I have my days where i talk myself into being ok with not being a mother to my own child. I feel i know in the back of my head I wont be a mom, i wont have a baby. I have my own set of issues and then Tevis has his own set. We don't have money to do in vitro or surrogate, but i cant be so negative, but at the same time i have to prepare myself somehow. It keeps me inside to think i wont be a mom, and i wont give my family a grandchild, niece or nephew. I have my lovely yearly this summer and will of course ask more questions, and maybe once tevis gets insurance we will get him checked out and see what our options are. I hate the thought Tevis and I just cant make a baby on our own. If its meant to be it will happen! Until we find out more answers I will just focus on myself, tevis, school and being the best step mommy i can be to Delaney because she deserves all my life no matter what. & if one i can make her a big sister i know she will be the best out there!
XoXo. Hope everyone had a great Wednesday!

Facts about PCOS!

Everything I found is very good advice, and I hope to change my everyday lifestyle! Having a baby is my dream being a mother would make me so happy! A baby should be enough motivation. With my great support system, I believe i can do this!

The Tell-Tale Signs of PCOS

If you are suffering with PCOS it's more than likely you will experience some or most of these symptoms. Losing weight is my ultimate goal to help with my pcos and becoming fertile again.
  • You have problems losing weight and you gain weight easily
  • You have fertility problems
  • You don’t ovulate
  • You have menstrual problems or irregular periods
  • You have ovarian cysts
  • You have pelvic pain
  • You have increased facial hair
  • You experience male pattern hair growth
  • You have skin pigmentation
  • You have acne and oily skin
  • You crave sugary foods
  • You have a decreased interest in sex
  • You constantly feel tired and lethargic
  • You feel down-in-the-dumps and even depressed
  • You have an underactive thyroid gland

Foods I should start avoiding
Food #1: Sweets
Refined sugar causes elevated levels of insulin. If you have PCOS, avoid desserts and candy because they contain large quantities of sugar.
Food #2: Soft Drinks
Sports drinks and soft drinks that have high sugar content will increase your insulin level. Avoid all drinks with added sugars.
Food #3: White Bread
White bread also has a high glycemic index, which increases insulin levels. If you have PCOS, replace white breads with unprocessed, whole grains in moderation.
Food #4: White Rice
White rice should be replaced with brown rice or whole grain pastas, which have lower glycemic indexes. When possible, choose complex, unrefined carbohydrates instead of refined carbohydrates to decrease your insulin levels

PCOS Diet Guidelines

1. Balance your daily protein with equal amount carbohydrates

2. Eat low glycemic index foods

 4. Eat 5 meals a day

(example)

  • Breakfast (right away, when you wake up): 2 eggs scrambled with spinach + 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • Snack: Protein shake with organic milk, banana and spirulina
  • Lunch: Organic Turkey sandwich on whole grain bread with carrot sticks and hummus on the side
  • Dinner: Organic chicken with steamed broccoli and half a yam
  • Snack (less than an hour before bed): organic yogurt with granola and 1/2 teaspoon spirulina
 5. Eat essential fatty acids daily

6. Exercise 30 min. 5 days a week ( i have PLENTY of time to do this, just need motivation to do it)

 7. Eat Organic (dont think i'll switch to all organic, but eating better i will def. try my best)

8. Quit Coffee ( good thing i am not a coffee drinker)

Pcos can kiss my A**

I found out about 3-4 years ago that I have poly-cystic ovary syndrome. If you don't know what that is, here is a brief definition:
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a condition in which a woman has an imbalance of a female sex hormones. This may lead to menstrual cycle changes, cysts in the ovaries, trouble getting pregnant, and other health changes.
When i was married to my now ex-husband, we tried and tried and tried, I had AF come visit whenever she wanted and so when she didn't show up i always got my hopes up that i was pregnant. I wasn't understanding why the pregnancy tests always came back negative. My ex got all checked out he was good to go, it was me with the problem, i felt horrible about this. Our next step was going to try clomid, but as you have assumed our marriage ended up not working out, and i am thankful I did not have a baby with him even as much as i want to be a mother. God knew it wasn't the right time. I ended up with no insurance and went almost a year without a check up or a period, finally when I met my current boyfriend and moved to the Indianapolis area i found a great doctor. My body just doesn't allow AF to visit on its own, so now i have to take this expensive pills to force my body to have AF visit at least every other month. When we are ready to try for a baby she said clomid would be our next option. Last time i had an ultra sound of my ovaries i did have some cysts but they were very little and shouldn't be a bother to me.  I know Tevis needs to get all checked out too, in his past marriage he had to take clomid himself, him and his ex had issues having a baby as well they ended up having to do in vitro. If it is meant to be i will become a mother to the most wonderful miracle ever. I just know with everything that has been going on with my boyfriend I believe god wants to wait and deal with that later so Tevis and I can get more stable in our lives. I hate that it wont be easy for my to get pregnant, and my goal is to have one baby. I know my parents would love to be grandparents and my brother will be a great uncle. Right now just taking one day at a time and our baby will come.  <3

I am looking forward to finding other blogs about PCOS and learning to cope with it and how to manage and control it. I need to get my body healthy. I need to lose weight to help my PCOS. Letting things go can lead to so many other issues that i DO NOT want.
