We can Wednesday {4}

Hello lovely readers!
Erica and I here for another WE CAN WEDNESDAY!
Our middle of the week posts lets us share our updates on our weight loss journey or let us share ANYTHING healthy lifestyle related!

Holidays were just here and GONE!
I enjoyed my two week break from tracking calories, worrying about what i ate, and blogging, hehe.
It for one, kept me sane and made me realize, WOW i was putting a lot of calories in my body.
So over the holidays, about 2 weeks, i gained 3lbs back. I am ok with that, i could have GAINED WAY MORE. I did watch what i ate, and made sure i ate smaller portions but ate whatever i wanted. I wanted to enjoy my mommas cooking and enjoy my time with my bestie who stayed with me over new years!

Sunday i weighed myself and lost 1 of the 3lbs i gained. WAHOOO
Starting-220
Today .... I can proudly say i am back to where i was before christmas, i lost what i gained.
I am 207
13lbs is amazing, cant wait to see them KEEP coming off!

I am glad to be back on track! My short term goal is to be 198lbs by my birthday February 9th. Wish me luck.

I am gonna share some tips that helped me through the holidays!
I tried my best and so glad i am back on track!

I was so scared holidays were coming up, i had to prepare myself not to over do it. It's OK to have indulgent days every once in awhile (like Thanksgiving!), but the key is to indulge in a smart way. Here are five tips to avoid overeating this Thanksgiving weekend. I will continue to do these things to help myself not over eat even on my so called "cheat days or cheat meals"

Eat three balanced meals

It's pretty common for people to skip breakfast and lunch on Thanksgiving in anticipation of the big meal ahead. Unfortunately, this is a bad idea! Not only will your metabolism be slowed down because you never got it started, you'll also be much more likely to overeat at dinner. If you fill your breakfast and lunch with lean protein, veggies, and fruit, your body won't let you take on too much for dinner.

Drink Water

It's a holiday and the booze will certainly be flowing, but make sure you're drinking water too! Especially during the day, sometimes when you think you're hungry you're really just thirsty. When you start to feel hungry, drink an 8 oz glass of water and wait 10 minutes. If you're still hungry go for a healthy snack or have a small meal. If you were just thirsty you'll likely have forgotten your hunger all together after that 10 minutes. It's also a good idea to drink a full glass of water before you begin eating a meal.

Eat Only When You're Hungry

Are you eating that slice of pie just because it was sitting out on the table? Eating should never satisfy an emotional need or your boredom. If you ask yourself why you're eating and the answer isn't "because I'm hungry," stop. Go workout or do something else productive so the thought of food disappears.

Portions are key

Generally at Thanksgiving most of us build a heaping plate and then attempt to finish it all. Try giving yourself small servings of everything you want this year and then if you want more, go back for seconds. You'll be much less likely to overeat just because you feel like you have to clean your plate.

Eat Slower

Did you know it takes almost 20 minutes for your body to send the signal to your brain that you're full? If you eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly your mind will figure out you're full before you have a chance to overeat. Take a minute after each couple bites to put down your fork and take a small sip of water. Don't just shovel food in your mouth aimlessly.

  1. These are great tips.
I definitely avoid water on cheat days (not on purpose) and instead I need to drink more. I'll remember that now!
