So in order to keep my goal of staying active & losing some weight. I signed up for the Color Me Rad 5K in Indianapolis in September. It will give me the motivation to keep exercising all summer so I don't look like a fool at the race. I am glad Erica and I chose this one because there is really no pressure to race and be #1 its suppose to be fun and for a good cause.
I first started by telling Tevis that Erica and I were going to sign up for the 4 mile run/walk in fort Wayne and asking him to get a gym membership so I can get some exercise in. He doesn't think I'll go to the gym by myself, he may be right. I hate thinking i will be the fat girl in the gym. I gotta get over that fear. I have an exercise bike at home but i don't think it gives me the exercise I need, i just sit down and sit back and peddle. It doesn't look like an actual bike. I hate going out to run or walk in the country because it just feels so unsafe, and then when we move i can ride my bike around the addition and walk/run on the sidewalks. I am gonna work on this.... below picture
So then i got to my parents house and told everyone about the Color Me Rad 5K... i was excited to tell my dad because he is was a big runner back in the day, now i don't think he thinks i will/can do it. But hey i can prove him wrong, right? Everyone was supportive which is nice, no one was telling me not to do it or you cant. Its 3.1 miles and i think with training over the summer I can do this. Oh man, i am so extremely nervous and have no confidence but I start walking and running i will build up my body and be able to do this. Along the way hopefully losing weight and making myself feel 100x's better. This is a huge step for me and all i am looking for is support and encouragement. Tevis even said he would be there at the race to cheer me on.

If you are signing up for the Indianapolis race LET US KNOW! We will be planning a celebration drink afterwards! Would love to meet you!
Good luck! It is always tough to go into a new gym, no matter your size! And you don't always see results right away, so it's frustrating. I'm pregnant now and have been working out since before I got pregnant. I know for me, the struggle is that I work out hard but don't "see" results!
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago, I decided I wanted to run some. But just going out there and running is boring. So I signed myself up, like you did, for a race in the future. And I got my now-husband and one of my best friends signed up, too, so I HAD to get ready for it. It was tough, but I was so proud of myself afterward!
I can't wait to see your progress! Remember, "there are always a million reasons NOT to do something."
I thought signing up for this color me rad 5K would give me some motivation. Hopefully it works..eeeek! Thanks :)
DeleteWe can do this for sure :) and I will be going to the gym on my own as well. Jose and I are going to alternate days. 5am. Eeek. But we can still encourage eachother :)
ReplyDeleteThats good you guys will alternate :) 5am is early lol. You will be joining the 5am club, NOT ME lol. I will probably wait until we move before i join a gym.
DeleteWith the kids, I have no other choice. But it's okay. I will do what I gotta do :) I will be joining the end of May.. I want to get fitted for some good running shoes first :)
DeleteNever heard of being fitted for running shoes lol
